Former TV Apprentice star Ruth Badger will be the guest speaker at a Walsall event hosted by the Black Country Growth Hub later this month.
This free event will highlight the support available to companies through the recently launched Black Country Growth Hub, with a programme that includes high profile speakers, workshops and a networking exhibition.
Born in Wolverhampton, Ruth Badger rose to fame as a contestant on the BBC series The Apprentice in 2006 where she finished as runner up. She has since gone from strength to strength by setting up her own business, Ruth Badger Consultancy, which specialises in helping SMEs to start, grow and improve. Ruth also had a hit TV series in 2007 called Badger or Bust and continues to work with the BBC.
Sarah Hough, Black Country Growth Hub Development Manager said: This promises to be an exciting event for companies in the region to find out how they can engage with and benefit from the Black Country Growth Hub.
We are thrilled to have Ruth
Badger on board to share her business experiences and expertise. Ruth is a
well-known SME business expert; we are therefore urging smaller companies across
the Black Country to attend this inspirational event.
The event will be held at the Village Hotel in
Walsall on 23rd October from 9.30am to 3.30pm with a free lunch
provided. Companies will also have the opportunity to hear how they can
benefit from the Black Country Gold programme, a business development and
financial assistance programme which is part-funded by the European Regional
Development Fund.
Companies are encouraged to attend topical workshops taking place throughout the day covering subjects such as social media and energy efficiency.
The Black Country Growth Hub provides a single point of access for specialist advice and funding support to help businesses in the Black Country to grow. There is customised support available for SME manufacturers, with the aim of enabling them to compete and achieve sustainable growth through programmes such as Leadership Development, Resource Efficiency, Capital Grants, Sales & Marketing, Export Expert, Pre-Investment Advice and Innovation Centre Support. Businesses in the first stages of setting up can also access support and guidance through the Black Country Growth Hub.
The Black Country Growth Hub is a partnership between the four Black Country local authorities, the Local Enterprise Partnership, Black Country Chamber of Commerce, the Manufacturing Advisory Service, the University of Wolverhampton and other key business support agencies across the area.
The Black Country Growth Hub is supported by the Regional Growth Fund. The funding was secured from the Governments Regional Growth Fund through Lancaster University, who are leading the creation of 15 new growth hubs across the UK.
